Golfer in a Knockout Golf hat hitting a wedge shot, black and white

BACK TO "WORK"

I thought I was done making golf clubs. Turns out I was just between rounds.

My Story

After 10 years designing clubs and over a million sold, I stepped away. No plans to start another golf company.

But you know how golf goes. You tell yourself you’re just going to hit a few balls, and three hours later you’re still out there. That’s pretty much how Knockout started. A few ideas turned into some designs. Those designs turned into clubs. And somehow, here we are again.

You’d think a decade of this would make me good at golf. Mostly it just made me picky about wedges.

IT STARTED ON 14.

Every golfer has a hole like this. Mine is a short par 4 that leaves a perfect little wedge in, the kind of shot I should hit close. Some days I do. Other days I catch it a groove low, watch it come up short, and spend the walk to the green wondering what I’m doing with my weekends.

Standing there one afternoon, I started thinking about what I actually wanted from a wedge. Not a new technology with a made-up name. A club that felt great when I flushed it, looked right behind the ball, and didn’t leave me feeling helpless when I didn’t.

That idea became Knockout.

FINDING THE RIGHT WEIGHT.

The first thing I wanted to try was simple: a little more weight in the head, so there was some club behind the ball.

So we built some heavy ones. Then we built some really heavy ones.

On full swings, the really heavy prototypes were great. Locked in, right where we were looking. The problem showed up on the in-between shots — the half swing from 60, the little pitch over a bunker. Those need touch, and the heavy heads made touch hard to find.

So we dialed it back until we found the spot where full swings still felt solid without giving up the delicate stuff. That’s D5.5.

Then we built all three 50°, 54°, 58°  to that same swing weight and the same 35.5" length. That came from years of grabbing a different wedge and feeling like I’d picked up a different club. One setup, one feel. Your yardage changes, your setup doesn’t.

THE PART WE DIDN’T SEE COMING.

We cut the grooves deep, so we expected some spin. What we didn’t expect was how often we’d be standing on the range saying, “Did you see that?” Full shots landing and sitting down. Little chips grabbing faster than we planned for.

Is it the grooves? Probably a lot of it. Is the extra weight helping? Maybe. We honestly don’t know, and we’re not going to make up an explanation because it’d look good on a website. We just know what we saw: they bite. The putt is still on you.

BUILT FOR SATURDAYS, NOT THE TOUR.

Catch one clean and it feels exactly how you hoped. Solid and quiet, the kind of strike where you know before you look up.

But that’s not the only swing I make. Not even close. There’s the thin one, the toe one, and whatever that was on 14. I wanted a wedge that felt good on all of them, or at least didn’t make the bad ones feel worse.

Classic shape, matte satin finish, a head that sits down nicely behind the ball. I didn’t want to tell you these feel premium. I wanted you to pick one up and notice on your own.

WHY $117.

We sell straight to you. No retail markup, no tour pros on the payroll, no ad budget that gets passed along to you. Just three wedges, priced like we’d want to pay for them.

WHY WE STARTED.

Golf has become a bigger part of our family life. The kids are getting older. We’re playing more. Some of our best days are the ones spent on the course together.

So we figured if we were going to spend this much time golfing, we might as well make something. Not 14 different lofts. Just three wedges we actually wanted in the bag.

We’re a small family-run golf brand. We take the clubs seriously. Ourselves? Not nearly as much.

Phone calendar showing a Tuesday of golf labeled as product testing, R&D and overtime

Now a Tuesday morning tee time is “product testing.” Hitting balls for two hours is “R&D.” And 36 holes? Overtime.

It’s worked out pretty well.

YOUR SWING GETS THE FINAL VOTE.

I can tell you the story all day, but your swing isn’t mine. That’s why every set comes with the 101-Day Knockout Guarantee.

Take them to your course. Put ’em up against whatever’s in your bag. Hit the good ones, hit the bad ones, see who’s still standing after 101 days.

If ours don’t win, send ’em back. Full refund, no questions asked.

I know what I think. You get 101 days to decide what you think.
